Is there anyway to block Google from entering to my House?

From Digg, I've got this image... Google in 20 years... :)

It is really wonderful to see such a good view on Google by Google Fans... Even though I'm not against Google i feel something irritating when someone out there knows what I'm doing inside my house.
Isn't it threat to the Privacy?
I had seen so many Anonymizers around Like Hide IP, and many Privacy softwares around. These softwares will be like Hide From Google, ..etc., We may get Google Removal softwares like what we get now like Spyware Removal Softwares, The softwares may be like the following,

Spy Sweeper may be changed to Google Sweeper,
Spyware Doctor may be changed to Google Doctor,
Google Eraser, Google remover, Google Cleaner, ..etc.,
Block Google... in efficient way...

These things reminds me of the article The Final Days of Google. Really an interesting read though.

Orkut sometime used for good too....!!!

I just got a forward with a subject "Never love a stranger on Orkut-----TCS gal murder case story revealed." I was really curious to know who was such an innocent girl loved a stranger from Orkut. Something is not right. isn't it?

Yup. The people who forwards the messages never wanted to know the truth. You can find real story from CNN-IBN,

"Twenty-four-year-old Manish Thakur, a naval officer based in Goa, has now been arrested for allegedly shooting Kaushambi, his girlfriend, in Hotel Sun-n-Sheel in Andheri...

...Kaushambi and Manish went to the same school in Jharkhand and were reportedly dating each other since school days. Kaushambi then moved to Mumbai for a job, and Thakur used to come down from Goa often to visit her..."

So here Cops used the Social networking web-site Orkut, to track the person who shot the victim. Look what Mumbai police said. Mumbai Police say "Thakur's profile on Orkut, the social networking site, helped them...".

Sometime back i wrote a story about Is orkut dying?, now Orkut is in news for a good reason. Maybe i have to re-think of Orkut death.

So based on the above story Orkut helped cops to trace the Shooter. So I want you to re-read the message "Never love a stranger on Orkut-----TCS gal murder case story revealed." It does not seem to fit into it.
So i would like to change it to "Orkut helps the cops to trace the murderer".

If not Orkut? tracing back the murder would have taken a year or so. Before that he'll do something and escape. That is very normal in India as of i know.

Thank you orkut!!!
Koushambi's profile is here.
MANISH THAKUR's profile is here .

Vodafone knocks India with ultra-low cost handsets

From Press release of Vodafone,

"Vodafone today(21st May 2007) unveils its first Vodafone-only branded ultra-low cost consumer handsets, the Vodafone 125 and Vodafone 225, aimed at providing millions of people in emerging and developing markets the opportunity to access to the benefits of mobile technology for the very first time."

Look at the images of Ultra-Low cost images below,

Vodafone - 125Vodafone - 225

They also quote that the price would be between $25 - $45(approx. Rs.1000 ->Rs.2000)

The made a statement about Indian Mobile market after they have bought Hutchison Essar, for $10.9 billion recently. So next step seems to acquire mobile handset market with Hutch service.

"...In markets such as India or Tanzania the cost of purchasing a mobile handset can be one of the key barriers to accessing mobile services..."

So Indian Mobile lovers going to surely enjoy this for ultra-low cost mobiles and Hutch service. This is a very healthy competition between mainly already in Nokia and Motorola. Being the first time in Indian Market Vodafone is going to be Fresher to Indian Market but seems to be Experienced in judging Indian Mind.

So we can expect soon Motorola and Nokia to reduce the Handset price or whatever.. We have to wait and see...!!!

Cheers to Vodafone!!!
Cheers to Indian Customers!!!

Google Bomb - Rediff Interview with me!!!

Rediff Interview!!! .. hmm.. this is how everything started.

I wrote a blog entry on Apr 11th about H1B Official Web-site, one of the comments for this is following,
"hi. i work for rediff.com and we're interested in talking to you about this issue. i cannot find an email for you on your blog. can you please mail me ASAP on ch*****th@rediff.co.in. thanks."

Hmm... This was the first i was attracted by Media, hence i had sent my mail ID to the ID they have mentioned. Did i get the reply.. Yup i have got the reply with the Subject - Questions from Rediff check the mail too,
"Hi Peter,

Thank you for replying.

I'm sending you some questions for an interview I want to do for
rediff.com on the H1-B issue you have blogged about.

It would be lovely if you could reply to these by Monday, April 16. If I
have further queries after I receive your answers, I'll be in touch.

Best,
Chinmayee

QUESTIONS
When did you become aware of this issue?

Could you explain what Google bombing is and how it is done?

Who are the people running sendemback.com? Is this is a new site or can we
link it to the outsourcing backlash?

What are the consequences of this sort of Google bombing?

What is your strategy to counter this? How does it work?

What has the response been so far? Can you call it a success?

Are you planning on approaching any authorities on this issue?

Are there any other related issues, the awareness of which, you think
needs to be increased?"
As i'm responsible to answer these questions i had given my answers with full details. She also said she will be in touch. I have sent a mail with the answers how this information will be used. She never answered me for this question.

I can't believe how could anyone from Media(Rediff.com) never bothered to answer how the my information will be used? and also i can never see my interview been published though.

Look at my reply to the Questions from Rediff,

Hi Chinmayee,

I have attached my answers with this mail. Let me know if you have further
queries on any of these answers. I would also like to know how you are
going to use this interview.

Thanks,
- Peter Jayaraj

Her Reply for the mail was,
Thanks, Peter. I'll stay in touch.
Best
Chinmayee

She never contacted me as well as she never published the interview though. I would like to introduce her to all of you. Her name is Chinmayee. Here is her blogger Profile. I did not expect such an irresponsible interview from media.

So I'm planning to publish the answers here in few days.

Lesson: Don't spend time for the interview which is never going to be published. Ask thousand times how the information will be used before you give it out.

Project Green Hands

“Trees are our closest relationship. What they exhale, we inhale. What we exhale, they inhale. This is a constant relationship that nobody can afford to break or live without."
And we as human beings who are largely responsible for the most of the environmental hazards that are being posed today due to our intervention onto the environmental balance

Much of the environmental hazards faced by us today can be linked to large scale cutting down of trees (deforestation). It is not enough that we just stop our activities now at the present time of crisis but reverse the conditions with speedy and large scale planting of trees (afforestation)

Project green hands is one such initiative that aims at retaining 33% Earth’s green cover that is ideal to sustain life. They have planted 8, 52,587 tree saplings on a single day during last year to inspire the people for this drive that holds the Guinness record for most number of trees planted on a single day.

They aim to plant 114 million trees by the year 2010 in the entire state of Tamil Nadu and selected locations in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa and in the Union Territories of Pondicherry and Delhi .

The action plan for this year 2007 is to plant 25 million tree saplings in different parts of Tamil Nadu.

The project requires public support through awareness, a huge cost that is involved in planting and maintaining such large number of saplings and networking a large number of volunteers and rural people. This project in addition to its intended environmental benefits also provides livelihood for those rural people who are involved in preparing the nurseries of plant saplings, planting and maintaining them.

Hereby I am obliged to pass on the information of the initiatives taken by Project Green Hands. PFA more information about this project and you can visit the link

Poor man's iPod!!!

Check out the price of Apple iPod nano in India here, It comes roughly around $200. This is the cheapest price you can get in India. This seems to be only for the people working in Software Industry.

So it is not possible for the normal people afford for real Apple iPods. So what is the solution for this?

There are number of fake Apple iPods increased in Indian markets. look at the original iPod nano in right side figure. The below one is fake Apple iPod. They also provide same features but the price of the Poor man's iPod nano 4 GB is Rs.2500 ($55)

200$ Versus 55$. So obviously the fake Apple iPod is in the markets for a while. Look at below for the picture of the fake Apple iPod.

This is what written in back side of the fake one.

See the title again... that is the reason why it is fit into the category "Poor man's iPod". Of course it is not as good as Apple iPod.

Can human eyes endowed with night vision?

From this article,

The "Bionic Man/Bionic Woman" in us gives thanks for microchips that help our damaged bodies, pills that keep our brains happy and focused, Palm Pilots that put information in our hands and eye implants that improve our vision.

But will we welcome a future that includes: designer children, their brains 20% smarter and wiped clean of the most violent impulses; older adults living 20 years longer than today; wireless links connecting our brains to e-mail transmitters; perhaps even human eyes endowed with night vision?

There is a big debate going on in this topic... Using technology to enhance Humans?

Even this story slashdotted too.. Look at the arguments,

"It's a well-known fact that technology can improve our lives. For example, we can reach anyone and anywhere with our cellphones. And people who can't walk after an accident now can have smart prosthesis to help them. But what about designing our children on a computer or having a chip inside our brain to answer our email messages? Are we ready for such a future? In 'Robo-quandary,' the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that many researchers are working on the subject. And as a professor of neuroscience said, "We can grow neurons on silicone plates; we can make the blind see; the deaf hear; we can read minds." So will all we become cyborgs one day?"

What do you think?

Looking at web 2.0 like Second Life, Twitter, Blogs ..etc., and more on the internet tells me we are already using technologies to enhance Human. So here also we are going to do the same. But it is a high risk area which anyone can even think of.. let us wait and see how it goes...

Is Orkut dying?

I was just checking out 'Orkut' in google trends, yields the results which is not good for google.Look at the following chart to visualize this...

Click the image to enlarge

Orkut's trend is in decreasing mode. This looks like dying very fast. This is not the same with other famous social networking sites like Myspace or Facebook. Look at the the charts for myspace and Facebook in the following figures.

Trends with facebook & Trends with myspace (Click the images to enlarge)

Finally look at the combined look of all these 3.

Here we can get clearly that Orkut is dying very very fast. What could be the reasons for it?

Orkut is very famous of major regions are Brazil and India. In Brazil as of we know it has reached the maximum limit. So it is very very tough for Orkut to grow further in that area. Growth rate would be very very low. Next is India, as everybody know India tops in people but Orkut's growth rate is decreasing.. Why?

Here we have to look carefully.. Why could a service which is very popular in declining trend? As of i see there are couple of reasons.

1) As of i know anytime i hear about Orkut in News(especially India), There is something bad happened. Look at the following sources in CNN IBN,

http://www.ibnlive.com/news/schoolgirl-made-sexworker-on-orkut/top/32897-3.html

http://www.ibnlive.com/news/cops-blame-internet-for-pune-rave/35248-3.html

http://www.ibnlive.com/news/underworld-wide-web-cops-scan-orkut/27382-3.html

http://www.ibnlive.com/news/buddhadeb-on-orkut-angers-fans/25993-3.html

There are so many other sources i can show how Orkut is not for India... This is the first reason the people started hating Orkut.

2. All major software companies in India blocked Orkut. Why am i mentioning this because most of the Indians use social networking sites from office, not from home.

3. Many colleges blocked Orkut because of the possibility of abuse.

These are the major reasons i believe. If you have another good reason why it is dying.. Just drop a comment ..I would love to add it..

See Instant messaging, TV shows,..oh..no. It is very good in everything. Ok what could be the common problems occur in the countries like mine(India).

In India, we watch only filtered version of channels, we filter out all the Adult channels and none of English movies channel can show adult content in the movie... either it is blurred out or something like that... most violent channels not allowed...and many more restrictions in channels in India.

If Joost comes in i don't think India is equipped to protect these channels to filter out the channels. Sometime back as everybody knows in URLs blocked in India, instead of 10 blogs Indian Govt. blocked blogger.com itself. It was the funniest event ever happened. After a long battle by bloggers the ban was lifted.

I'm just looking forward when Joost like Internet TVs comes in what can Indian Govt. do?
Does it block Internet TVs too?

Let us wait and see!!!
