When did Vodafone buy Airtel?

You must be wondering why am i righting this? You may think what this guy is talking without any sense... Even when i typed http://www.airtel.com and pressed enter it redirected me to Vodafone's España, Hmm... This is like when you type http://www.hutch.in redirects to http://www.vodafone.in,

Oh.. no.. I'm really confused.. Is Airtel and Hutch are different companies...LOL? It does not seem to ethical for me...!!!

See the screen shot:
//Update: Thanks to Rohit and Rajesh for your valuable comments on this one. Airtel in Spain was bought by Vodafone Spain. They have the domain name http://www.airtel.com. Now Airtel in Spain is owned by Vodafone Spain.

Dear friends
A foolish news again….To reveal the truth please follow the following steps

1.Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodafone

2.Scroll down to the table showing Vodafone in Spain

3.See the vodafone in Spain…

4.U can c that Airtel is a company in spain fully owened by Vodafone and they have domain name as www.airtel.com

5.Also identify that its gets redirected to www.vodafone.es and not to www.vpdafone.in or .com

Guys,

Vodafone Spain USED TO BE CALLED "AIRTEL Móviles España"

Airtel was then acquired by Vodafone in 2000 and eventually rebranded to Vodafone España..

To FURTHER CONFUSE things, your seperate, non-related Airtel brand in India owns a mobile operation on a small island off the UK called Jersey and uses the brand "Airtel-Vodafone", eventhough Vodafone has no stake in that company, but allows its brand to be used as a franchise to Airtel.
